J de Juegos Presents: Men of War Unofficial Strategy Guide

$4.95

The author had one true goal when writing this 372 page Unofficial Strategy Guide for Men of War... to provide those interested in the game, but who lacked the patience or will to push through its hard spots, with the knowledge and some strategies and tactics to be able to play it and enjoy it to its fullest.
Men of War is, so far, the best iteration of Best Way’s and DMS strategy games based on World War II. It comprises of all the best features that made its predecessors such great games, and it does so by moving a step further, in the right direction, from what was done with Faces of War.
Even though it probably qualifies as the “simplest” of the series it is still a rather tough game, but in a more balanced way as far as how game dynamics and level design meld together. Not like Soldiers: Heroes of World War II, Silent Heroes, or Faces of War.
As far as level design and game dynamics go, Men of War rescues the best of the originals and takes the novelties presented in Faces of War to a more efficient and streamlined level. The result is a better-balanced game and a more entertaining overall user experience.
The goal of Men of War Unofficial Strategy Guide is to offer those who want to play, or try, the game a strategy and tactics guide that will help them overcome each scenario without having to put too much time or trial-and-error into it. Because of a personal decision, and the slightly open-ended nature of the game dynamics, the Guide is never a step-by-step walkthrough. It offers enough detail to help go through each mission, but never too much as to take the feeling of playing-the-game from the gamer. As its title implies it is a Guide, not the ultimate success recipe.
Men of War Unofficial Strategy Guide includes a background for the game, as well as a section on general strategy and tactics that can be applied within it. It includes details, descriptions and/or facts for almost all items, weapons and vehicles that can be found and used within the game.
The Guide was designed to be as visual as possible by incorporating in-game screenshots and vehicle/weapon renders where suitable. And it is probably the most comprehensive and up-to-date reference available. What makes it even more interesting and complete is that most of the information offered applies to all preceding games as well --to Faces of War in a larger degree than to Soldiers: Heroes of World War II and Silent Heroes; mainly because the latter two lack the group dynamics introduced in FoW.
Men of War Unofficial Strategy Guide is as complete as it possibly can without becoming a history book on World War II.
We believe that although the Guide will most certainly be useful to someone playing Men of War it can prove interesting to almost anyone tackling a World War II videogame, with the exception of those based on alternate stories or fantasy settings. This because the same vehicles will be present and in order to be realistic the same balance among them should exist. A Panzer VI Tiger would be stronger than a T-34, for example. The only thing to keep in mind is that a few of the available games are more realistic and simulation based than Best Way’s, but not necessarily as entertaining.
